Information for Businesses

We would like to thank all members of the Oak Bay community for their cooperation and compliance with the Provincial Health Officer’s orders. The resources below are provided to assist businesses who may be facing hardship during these times.

Orders of the Provincial Health Officer:

These are mandatory orders issued by the Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry.  These are mandatory and must be adhered to, and include restrictions on certain business operations. These are subject to change as the COVID-19 situation evolves.  

  • Order for the closure of Personal Service Establistments

Owners, operators and staff

The closure order was effective immediately and will remain in place until BC public health officials provide new direction. PSE operators and staff provide services to or on the body of other persons, requiring direct personal contact. See examples of PSES.

CLOSED

Owners and operators of places at which food and/or drink are prepared

  • May stay open subject to only providing take out or delivery service
  • Must ensure that people maintain  a minimum distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from each other
  • Must not be more than 50 people present at one time

RESTRICTIONS

Holders of Liquor Licences and Liquor Licence Endorsements that do not offer meal service

 

CLOSED

Owners and operators of places which meals and drinks, including drinks containing liquor, are prepared and serviced

  • May stay open subject to only providing take out or delivery service
  • Must ensure people maintain a minimum distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from each other
  • Must not be more than 50 people present at one time

RESTRICTIONS

Owners and operators or retail liquor establishments

  • May stay open subject to not having more than 50 people present at one time

RESTRICTIONS

Persons having travelled outside of Canada on or after March 12, 2020

  • Must remain at home, at a hotel, or similar place for 14 days to prevent transmission to others

SELF-ISOLATION

Owners, occupiers and operators

  • Gatherings in excess of 50 people are not permitted
