Municipal Finance

Financial Services is responsible for long-term financial planning, annual budget development, investment management, general accounting, treasury and cash management and all statutory financial reporting. All municipal procurement, such as tenders, purchase orders and payments are coordinated through the Department. Financial Services calculates and levies property taxes, generates utility billing and processes payments for such items as licenses, permits and fines. It is also responsible for processing and distributing the District of Oak Bay employee payroll and maintaining employee information for 600 full-time, part-time and casual employees.

The Information Technology Department is part of Financial Services. It is responsible for providing internal and external customers with appropriate technology devices, information, and applications to maximize business efficiencies from the District investment in information technology.
