Aqua Fit Instructors

We are looking for energetic, outgoing instructors to teach Aqua Fitness programs to our adult participants. Instructors are responsible for conducting a variety of fun and creative Aqua Fitness programs, while ensuring the safety of participants at all times. 

Requirements:

  • Current BCRPA recognized Aquatic Fitness Instructor certification (CALA, YMCA or BCPRA); or Water Art;
  • Basic Rescuer CPR (CPR C) not more than 24 months old;
  • Current Emergency First Aid; or NLS award; or Standard First Aid;
  • Ability to incorporate fun, creativity and variety into Aqua Fitness classes;
  • Ability to teach safe, fun and well organized Aqua Fitness classes;
  • Ability to teach adults and seniors;
  • Ability to teach Deep Water Aqua Fit and at least one of: Shallow Water, 50 & Better, Water Works, or Pre/Post-Natal;
  • Provision of a current Police or RCMP Criminal Record check.

Hours:  Mondays 6:45-7:45am; on call as required. 

Rate:      

  •  $21.49-$27.32 per hour plus $2.95-$3.75 per hour in lieu of benefits.

 

 Instructor - Licensed Care 

PRE-SCHOOL PLAYHOUSE PROGRAM

This is a recreation position for an Instructor in our licensed Preschool Playhouse program. Under the direction of the Community Recreation Programmer of Licensed Care, the Instructor will plan, prepare and implement a creative, stimulating preschool program for children ages 3-5 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise and lead a preschool program for up to 16 children; 
  • Work within Community Care Facilities Licensing Board regulations;
  • Supervise staff, ECE students and support workers;
  • Plan and implement a daily schedule of activities suitable for children 3-5 years of age;

  • Adhere to all safety standards;
  • Ensure program areas are kept clean and well-maintained at all times;

Program Attendant - Licensed Care

The successful candidate will have the energy and enthusiasm to provide varied and enjoyable activities, combined with the ability to work with children 3-5 years old, parents and staff  in a friendly and effective manner. Duties include set up and clean up, guiding children and assisting in the program, which may include circle and art time as needed.

  • Possess a license to practice as an Early Childhood Educator, or an Early Childhood Educator Assistant in British Columbia;

Youth Centre Attendant

Quality youth programming is an important goal at Recreation Oak Bay. We are looking for an energetic, creative person who has experience working with youth. Position involves implementing activities in the Youth Drop-In Centre and developing a sound liaison with youth in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with organization of Centre Drop-In activities and special events;

  • Supervising the Youth Centre and ensuring a safe environment;

  • Developing a monthly calendar for the Youth Centre activities (lunch time/evening);

  • Communicate/work with Coordinator on programs and events;

  • Ordering and maintaining inventory & supplies for the Youth Centre.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with youth;

Tennis Instructional Team Leader

Recreation Oak Bay is looking for dedicated and energetic individuals with supervisory ability to take on the role of Team Leader. Working under the direction of the Tennis Supervisor, this position is responsible for the safe and smooth operation of tennis lessons, and providing interesting programs and activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and facilitates Tennis Tournaments;
  • Prepares special projects and maintains budgets and supply levels, as requested;
  • Acts as liaison between tennis staff and Tennis Supervisor;
  • Ensures that staff and sessions begin and end on schedule;
  • Ensures the upkeep of the facility;
  • Assists in maintaining a quality tennis environment for all patrons;
  • Assists in the training, evaluation and motivation of the tennis staff;
  • Prepares and maintains records, as required;
  • Provides the necessary guidelines to ensure the safety of all participants.

Qualifications: 

  • Experience teaching all levels of tennis lessons;
  • Ability to address feedback from patrons and program participants;
  • Current Tennis Canada Instructor Level 1;
  • Current Emergency First Aid & CPR-C;

  • Hours may vary to meet operational needs:  May include day,evening and weekend hours dependent on special events, booking private lessons and facilitating tournaments.

Youth & Sports Birthday Party Team Leader

  • Attend and, instruct and lead games or activities during Birthday parties as needed.

  • Current  Emergency First Aid and CPR-C;

  • Monday to Friday 5-8pm as per parties are booked

  • Satrudays and Sunday 9am -6pm as per parties are booked.

  • Team Leader hours: 2-3hrs per week. That can be scheduled as need.
