Community Recreation - Program Attendants

Drop-in Sports Attendant

Head of Reception

Henderson Recreation Centre

Reporting to the Supervisor, Reception Services, the successful candidate is responsible for establishing a warm and friendly atmosphere for all visitors and staff and performing secretarial duties as requested by the Supervisor, Centre Coordinator and Programmers. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures effective operation of the office including program registrations, admissions, transfers, rentals, refunds, cash handling, auxiliary payroll and secretarial duties;

  • Answers enquiries, both in person and by telephone about all Recreation Oak Bay facilities and programs in a warm and informative manner;

  • Trains, delegates, and provides supervision to Receptionists;

  • Prepares monthly reception schedules in conjunction with the Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from senior secondary school;

  • Minimum two years stenographic experience/receptionist experience, plus experience in a supervisory/leadership role;

  • Extensive experience dealing with the public;

  • Warm, outgoing personality and good communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently and without close supervision;

  • Accurate keyboarding skills of 45 wpm and proficiency in MS office software and computerized registration systems;

  • Cash register training;

  • Current BC Driver’s License;

  • Current CPR ‘C’ and OFA Level I certifications.

  • Provision of a current Police or RCMP Criminal Record check.

Hours:

  • Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm (35 hours/week)

Instructors - Ice Skating/Hockey

Maintenance Custodian

We invite applications from qualified candidates for maintenance auxiliary hours involving the operation and maintenance of the Henderson Recreation Centre. Primary responsibilities are to ensure the cleanliness and smooth functioning of the Centre, while maintaining a safe environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the set up and take down of equipment for a variety of programs and assists program staff to ensure a safe and positive experience for the facility users;

  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the facility during a shift;

  • Vacuuming, mopping and sweeping as required;

  • Cleans washrooms and change room areas;

  • Performs routine minor maintenance of equipment, as needed;

  • Performs building and equipment maintenance and cleaning tasks and other related work as required.

Qualifications:

Program Attendant - Licensed Care - Support Worker

NLC After School Program

Program Attendant - Licensed Care

Paddington Station

  • Applicants must be a minimum of 19 years of age;

  • Current Class 4 Unrestricted BC Driver's Licence and Driver’s Abstract; 

  • Must meet VIHA licensing requirements, including Solicitor General criminal record check, current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C certifications, 20 hours of related training or education;

  • Minimum two years experience working with school aged children in a recreational setting;
