Preparedness Education

The Oak Bay Emergency Program sponsors numerous free information session and special events throughout the year.

Disaster Recovery Information Sessions

These information sessions will provide you with detailed information on how to identify the risks, to be personally prepared to be self-sufficient for a minimum of 7 days after a major emergency or disaster and begin to recover from whatever has happened.

These information sessions are delivered at locations around Oak Bay, including

  • Windsor Park Pavilion (2451 Windsor Road – between Transit and Newport) in the evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, unless otherwise indicated in the calendar.
  • Monterey Recreation Centre (1442 Monterey Avenue) during the day.
  • Other public facilities including recreation centres and churches.

Times and locations will vary. Check the calendar for details.

Similar workshops are available to Oak Bay groups and organizations on request, including Block Watch, strata, and community and service groups.

All information sessions are FREE.  Please pre-register to guarantee your seat. Check the calendar for details on dates, locations and registration instructions.

Fire Extinguisher Training

We all own them, but can we operate them effectively and safely when we need to?   This 60-minute interactive workshop includes instruction, a video and hands on practice.  All materials and equipment are provided.

These workshops are delivered at the Oak Bay Fire Hall (1703 Monterey Avenue).

This workshop is available to any Oak Bay groups of 6 or more people.  To book your date and time contact  Jacob Tilson, OBEP Manager (obep@oakbay.ca) or Brad Scott, Fire Prevention Officer (bscott@oakbay.ca)
