Emergency Program Workshops

The Oak Bay Emergency Program sponsors numerous free workshops and special events.

Emergency Program Information Sessions

Emergency Preparedness Begins with YOU!

These 90-minute sessions will provide you with information on how you can be prepared for any emergency.  Learn about the risks facing Oak Bay, how to develop a personal preparedness plan and how to put together your emergency preparedness kits to be self-sufficient for a minimum of seven days after a major emergency.

These workshops are delivered at either

  •  the Windsor Park Pavilion (2451 Windsor Road – between Transit and Newport) in the evening  from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, unless otherwise indicated in the calendar, or
  •  the Monterey Recreation Centre (1442 Monterey Avenue) during the day.  Times will vary.  Check the calendar.

To register for daytime or evening sessions contact the OBEP (250.592.9121) or email (

While all OBEP-sponsored workshops are free, you are asked to register so we can be sure there is enough room and handout materials for everyone.

An information session can be tailored for and delivered to private groups (minimum of six people), including businesses, schools, churches, strata and co-op councils, seniors centres and residences and community organizations.

Fire Extinguisher Training

We all own them, but can we operate them effectively and safely when we need to?   This 60-minute interactive workshop includes instruction, a video and hands on practice.  All materials and equipment are provided.

These workshops are delivered at the Oak Bay Fire Hall (1703 Monterey Avenue).

This workshop is available to any Oak Bay groups of 6 or more people.  To book your date and time contact  Eileen Grant, OBEP Manager ( or Captain Rob Kivell, Fire Prevention Officer (
