The Oak Bay Fire Department and Oak Bay Fire Fighters are proud to serve and be involved in their community.
We provide various opportunities for community education, including:
- CPR training
- Fire Extinguisher Training
- Fire Hall Tours
CPR Training for the Community
Oak Bay Firefighters are Red Cross certified to instruct CPR courses with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) certification. We offer free training courses which are held at the Oak Bay Fire Hall located at 1703 Monterey Avenue and can be scheduled to meet your needs. The recommended number of participants for a class to be run is between 5 min – 20 max.
Cost – $10.00 Oak Bay Firefighters volunteer to run these courses
Certification level – Adult/Child/Infant CPR with Automatic External Defibrillator AED
Hours – 4 hours of formal training

Fire Extinguisher Training for the Public
Oak Bay Firefighters hold fire extinguisher training in conjunction with the Oak Bay Fire Department. The course includes fire extinguisher theory relating to the different types and purposes, as well as practical training in which participants will extinguish a live fire in our controlled burn pan. The course is designed to help the public become confident in the use portable fire extinguishers.

These free training courses can be scheduled by contacting the Fire Department secretary at 250-592-9121.
The Oak Bay Emergency Program also conducts Fire Extinguisher training on various Saturdays throughout the year.
Tours of the Fire Station
Public tours of the Fire Station, for Oak Bay schools and Residents, will be held on the first and third Wednesday of each month. These tours are by reservation only.
Tours will commence at 10:00 a.m., and will be approximately 45 minutes long (subject to operational requirements).
Maximum size of tour groups will be 25 children with a minimum of four adults for supervision.
