Chief's Message

Chief Constable Andy Brinton

I would like to welcome you to the Oak Bay Police Department's information page.  The men and women of this department are proud to serve the community and continue the legacy of those who served before us.

Oak Bay enjoys a reputation as being one of the safest communities in Canada.  A review of the local crime statistics and motor vehicle accident numbers would certainly support this.  This department provides a proactive service through a team of dedicated police officers, civilian support staff and volunteers.  As a community-based police department, we are directly accountable to the residents of Oak Bay.  Our size and place in this community allows us to tailor our activities to the local conditions and remain agaile enough to respond to changing needs.

Modern day policing involves coordinated approaches to problem solving.  We are well linked to the other service providers int he area which leads to full case management.  As crime has no borders, we also play a key role in the integrated policing teams and information sharing structures in the Greater Victoria area.

Much of what makes Oak Bay what it is lies in the pride of community that exists here.  This pride was evident during our strategic planning consultations.  It is a pleasure to work with the community in delivering some key initiatives here such as the Block Watch Network and our School Liaison Program.

Please feel free to contact me directly should you have any questions or input.

Thank you.

Andy Brinton
Chief Constable
