Pool Closure (July 1 - September 2)

The pool at Oak Bay Recreation Centre will be closed from July 1, 2024, to September 2, 2024, to allow the district to make upgrades to the facility.

During this time, the steam room, sauna, and pool change rooms, as well as all pool services such as swimming lessons, public swims, and Aquafit sessions, will be unavailable.

The upcoming shutdown of the pool is necessary to upgrade the existing pool dehumidifier and air handling system. The completed installation of the dehumidifier will improve the air quality in the pool facility while also supporting the longer-term sustainability of our facility’s infrastructure. Additionally, we will be conducting our usual repair and refinishing, including some upgrades to the sauna and steam rooms. Although much of the work of this shutdown will not be visually noticeable once completed, the upgrades to the air handling systems are absolutely necessary to support a healthy environment for your exercise and water play needs.

Now is an excellent opportunity to explore the Oak Bay Recreation Centre Weightroom, as well as the Henderson Recreation Centre Weightroom, as they will remain open during this period.
