Painted Pianos

Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture hosts the return of the popular Arts Alive pianos painted by local artists for the public to play during the summer in select locations around Oak Bay. Pianos are available to be played by anyone from 9:00am to 8:00pm. The pianos will be in the community from July until early September.

Artists Chris Paul, Gillian Redwood, Robert Amos, Jennifer McIntyre, and Senior Art Students from St. Michael’s University School have painted the pop-up pianos that are installed at Cattle Point, Turkey Head, McNeill Bay, Willows Beach, Loon Bay Park and Estevan Village.One new piano will be unveiled this year. Circles of Joy created by Intergenerational residents of Oak Bay, coordinated by artist Jennifer McIntyre.

The art pianos are part of Arts Alive, temporary public art program supported by Oak Bay Parks, Recreation & Culture. Arts Alive has been spearheaded by Oak Bay Arts Laureate Barbara Adams, whose vision and leadership is making Oak Bay a destination for arts & culture.
