Schedules can be found on the Drop-in Schedule page

Pre-registered Drop-in Sessions

Some drop-in activities require advance registration to reserve your spot. This includes activities such as group fitness classes, duffer hockey, pickleball, table tennis, and badminton sessions. We recommend registering in advance, as spaces may be limited and sessions can fill quickly.

Fitness Centre Age Requirements

The minimum age to access an Oak Bay Fitness Centre is 16 years.

Youth aged 13 to 15 years may access the Fitness Centre at the Oak Bay Recreation Centre or Henderson Recreation Centre only after successfully completing a Regional Youth Fitness Orientation. This orientation is mandatory for all youth in this age group, including those exercising under the supervision of a parent, guardian, or other accompanying adult.

After completing the orientation, youth will receive a Youth Fitness Exemption Card, which must be presented each time they visit the Fitness Centre. Youth are also required to follow all Fitness Centre rules and comply with staff instructions while using the facility.

For availability in youth fitness orientations please view the Youth Programs page.

Oak Bay requires that children must be 7 years or older to be in the pool without an accompanying adult. Children under 7 years of age must be within arm’s reach of an adult (16yrs+) at all times in the aquatic facility.

Children are encouraged to be accompanied by a responsible person aged 16 years or older when visiting the recreation centre. Centre staff are not responsible for supervising children who are not actively participating in a registered program or activity. While staff will respond to emergencies and provide assistance when needed, they cannot provide individual supervision or prevent risks such as wandering, interactions with strangers, or unsafe behaviour. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring children are appropriately supervised at all times.
