Employment Requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- Legally entitled to work in British Columbia
- Attend a mandatory training session
- No relation to any candidate running in election
- Not actively working for any candidate running in election
- Responsible for own transportation to and from voting place
- Ability to use laptop with online software
- Ability to work extended hours general voting day (7 a.m. - 9 p.m.)

About the Election Roles
Presiding Election Official
Responsible for the administration, security and integrity of voting at an assigned voting place. They ensure all voting activities are conducted in accordance with legislation, procedures and instructions from the Chief Election Officer.
Alternate Presiding Election Official
Supports the Presiding Election Official in managing voting place operations and assumes PEO duties when required. The APEO plays a key supervisory role, overseeing staff and assisting with electronic and tabulator-related procedures.
Machine Attendant
Responsible for the operation, monitoring, and security of automated vote tabulators at an assigned voting place. The Machine Attendant ensures tabulators function correctly, ballots are processed securely, and voter secrecy is maintained.
Election Official
Responsible for administering the voting process, including voter greeting and registration and issuing ballots using electronic voter database laptops,
under the direction of the PEO or APEO.
Standby
Work in the event an election worker can’t conduct their duties. Standby workers receive a minimum payment even if not called upon, must be available on short notice and are required to attend a mandatory paid training session.
