Oak Bay Artists' Studio Tour

Oak Bay Artists’ Fall Studio Tour 2018

Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4

Noon to 4:30pm

On Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4, 2018, from noon to 4:30pm, artists of Oak Bay will be opening their home studios to the public for this popular semi-annual event.  The free, self-guided tour visits 27 local artists showing paintings in watercolour, acrylic, and oil, as well as ceramics, photography, fibre art, paper castings, art cards, sculpture and more.  Participants are invited to walk, bike, or drive the streets of Oak Bay at their own pace to view the art, meet the artists, and learn about artists’ inspiration and process.  Now in its 19th year, the juried tour is produced by Oak Bay Parks, Recreation, and Culture.

In addition to the displays in home studios, 8 artists will be exhibiting their work in the Neighbourhood Learning Centre (NLC), adjacent to Oak Bay High School as part of the tour. There will also be a selection of works installed in the hallway gallery until December.

This year the artists are especially inviting families with school-aged children to visit their studios.

“I love that the tour is so family friendly,” says Karen Manders, Acting Arts and Culture Programmer.

“The tours are a great way for children and youth to meet real artists in their community. Whether you visit 2 or 27 of these artists, it’s a special experience for people of all ages.”

Children and youth who join in the tour are invited to have their tour maps initialed at each studio they visit. Those who visit 3 or more studios can bring their maps into Oak Bay Recreation Centre to receive a 2 for 1 drop in pass. Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture is proud to help local artists share their art with the community, and to provide education about art and its many expressions.

This two-day special event is free to the public. Brochures with artist images, descriptions, and a tour map are available at the Oak Bay Recreation Centres, Oak Bay Municipal Hall, and the Oak Bay Library as well as at local businesses and through participating artists prior to the show.
