Notice of Intent to Adopt Council Procedure Bylaw No. 4740, 2020, and Repeal Procedure Bylaw No. 4052, 1999

In accordance with Section 124 of the Community Charter, public notice is hereby given that at the regular Council meeting scheduled for December 14, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., Oak Bay Council will consider adopting Council Procedure Bylaw No. 4740, 2020  to regulate the proceedings of the Municipal Council and the Commission and Committees of The Corporation of the District of Oak Bay. If adopted, this bylaw will repeal Procedure Bylaw 4052, 1999 together with all amendments.

Key changes to the bylaw include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • adding definitions to clarify various meeting bodies
  • clarifying and expanding opportunities for public input at Council and Committee of the Whole
  • clarifying and expanding opportunities for electronic participation
  • adding a section on advisory bodies and clarifying conflict of interest for Council’s Committees

Due to the Pandemic and current Public Health Officer restrictions and guidelines, it is anticipated that in-person attendance may not be available for the Dec 14th meeting. Members of the public are strongly encouraged to submit written comments in advance of the meeting. Questions and comments regarding Bylaw No. 4740 must be received by 3:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting and may be submitted by:
