The District of Oak Bay and the University of Victoria jointly receive BC Active Transportation Grant

The District of Oak Bay is pleased to announce that in partnership with the University of Victoria it has received an Active Transportation Grant from the Province of British Columbia.

The grant of $316,380 will be used toward developing the University Drive Connection Pathway which will be a bi-directional bicycle pathway that will serve approximately 1,370 cyclists per school day. This project will improve active transportation infrastructure within the community and reduce emissions. The existing pathway will be converted into a pedestrian-only pathway and will serve approximately 700 pedestrians daily.

The District looks forward to the development of the pathway to provide safe and convenient infrastructure for active transportation in Oak Bay.

Construction of the pathway is expected to begin Fall 2020.
