The Urban Wildlife Stewardship Society, in collaboration with Oak Bay and the Province, will be applying immuno-contraceptive treatment (IC) to Oak Bay deer this fall 2021. This work is part of the Oak Bay Deer Project aimed at managing the urban deer population.

We are requesting Oak Bay property owners to help locate female deer and grant us property access during this phase of the project.

We will be searching for deer during daylight hours  during September – October 2021 on public and private land in Oak Bay. Once a female deer has been located, our wildlife veterinarian will sedate the deer and administer IC vaccination. To learn more about what is involved in the sedation and IC process, please visit our website at www.uwss.ca.

If you would be willing to grant us property access while we administer IC to female deer or for more information relating to deer in Oak Bay, please click here.
