Sewer and Surface Drain Maintenance Person
Regular Full-Time ($33.51/hour – 2024 Rates) Pay Grade 5

The Engineering and Public Works Department is seeking a Sewer and Surface Drain Maintenance Person to support the maintenance and operation of the District’s storm and sanitary sewer systems. This role involves performing specialized maintenance and inspection work, operating complex equipment, and supporting repair and installation activities in the field. The Sewer and Surface Drain Maintenance Person performs specialized work in the maintenance of sanitary and storm sewer mains and laterals. The work involves operation of complex equipment and requires an understanding of the Oak Bay storm and sanitary sewer systems. Work is generally guided by a more senior employee, who determines the required frequency of maintenance for individual sewer lines, and takes the primary responsibility for record-keeping.
Our ideal candidate has three years of general Public Works experience providing exposure to underground infrastructure and a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air brake endorsement. As a requirement of this position, you will be required to obtain EOCP Wastewater Collection Level 1 Certification upon eligibility. This position is represented by CUPE Local 374.
