Arts Alive is Oak Bay Parks, Recreation & Culture’s annual public art program.

The popular Arts Alive Oak Bay painted pianos are painted by local artists and located in select outdoor locations around Oak Bay for the public to play.

Oak Bay Painted Pianos Information

The popular Arts Alive pianos are painted by local artists and located in select outdoor locations around Oak Bay for the public to play. The pianos are in the community from late June until early September and available from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily

Free pop-up piano performances are scheduled in the summer months. For event details visit the Event Calendar.

In 2025, three new pianos were created by local artists.

Symphony of Oaks

The art pianos are part of Arts Alive, temporary public art program. Arts Alive was spearheaded between 2014-2020 by the former Oak Bay Arts Laureate Barbara Adams, whose vision and leadership has contributed to making Oak Bay a destination for arts and culture.

Artists who have contributed to the project include: Chris Paul, Robert Amos, Jennifer McIntyre, Cameron Neufeld, Asha Shakya, Gillian Redwood, Jim McFarland, Tanta DeStaffany Pennington, Jonathan Gleed, Sherry Tompalski.

Oak Bay Arts & Culture is not accepting piano donations at this time. To be added to the 2027 waitlist please contact apass@oakbay.ca.
