WHEREAS Commissionaires Victoria, the Islands and Yukon (CVIY) is proud to celebrate its 100th anniversary as a provider of security services in Canada; and
WHEREAS On July 25, 1925, the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires was founded with a mission to provide meaningful employment for veterans returning from war; and
WHEREAS Today, 100 years later, CVIY is driven by its social mandate to provide meaningful employment to veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP and other former first responders; and
WHEREAS In addition, they are joined by dedicated professionals from all walks of life, who serve a range of clients across industries united by a shared commitment to safety, service, and community; and
WHEREAS As a not-for-profit organization, CVIY reinvests in people, purpose, and the communities we serve. We deliver trusted security and advanced technology solutions across Vancouver Island, helping to protect what matters most.
NOW THEREFORE I Kevin Murdoch, Mayor of The District of Oak Bay do hereby proclaim July 25, 2025, as the “100th Anniversary of the Corps of Commissionaires in Canada” in The District of Oak Bay.
