Weekly Media Release Feb 23-Mar 1 2015

On February 23rd, police were called to the 1100 block of Beach Drive to investigate a break-in to a garden shed. Nothing appears to have been stolen.

On February 24th, police were called to the 3000 block of Foul Bay Road to investigate a residential break and enter. A laptop computer was stolen.

On February 24th, police investigated a reported break and enter in the 2600 block of Foul Bay Road. Jewellery was stolen.

On February 24th, police were called to the 2100 block of Lansdowne Road to investigate a reported break-in. It is unknown if anything was stolen.

On February 25th, police were conducting an impaired driving check on Cadboro Bay Road. One of the vehicles checked had a pronounced odour of cannabis coming from inside. The driver was detained and a search of the vehicle was conducted. A significant quantity of cannabis and “magic” mushrooms were seized. The driver was released on a promise to appear for a later court date.

On February 26th, police were advised of a male on Oak Bay Avenue committing an indecent act. The male was first observed by the female witness on Oak Bay Avenue at Wilmot Place. The female witness quickly turned south down Hampshire Road and saw that the male had followed her and was still committing an indecent act. The male stopped near Granite Street and was not seen again. Described as a Caucasian male, 5’11”, medium build, wearing a black jacket, athletic pants, black shoes and possibly a black toque.

On February 26th, police were called to a residence on the Lansdowne Slope to check the welfare of an elderly male who had not been heard from in a few days. Police officers determined that the incident was suspicious and entry was gained into the residence. Inside, they found the male on the floor with a head injury and seriously dehydrated. He was able to tell police he had fallen and been on the floor for a day and-a-half. The male was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

On March 1st, police responded to the 3200 block of Exeter Road following a report of a male threatening a homeowner with a handgun. The homeowner fended the male off with a garden implement. The male walked toward Beach Drive. The male is described as Caucasian, 5’10”, medium build, clean-shaven, wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and dark shoes carrying a yellow cell phone.

On March 1st, police responded to UVIC for a reported assault. One male was taken into custody after he punched another male in the face. He was released on a Promise to Appear for court at a later date on condition he have no contact with the other male.
