The Oak Bay Fire Department has just completed it’s very popular public education program “Fire Safety House”

The Fire Safety House program was established over 30 years ago and has been a success story ever since.

The department targets grade 3 and 4 students throughout the District’s Schools.  This is a great opportunity to teach kids the importance of all fire safety techniques and then give the kids a chance to practice in the Fire Safety House under the direction of the fire fighters.  In the Fire Safety House the children get to experience fake smoke to create ideal conditions to practice escaping safely.

The Children learned some of the following fire safety lessons: Smoke Alarms, Carbon Monoxide Alarms, Fire Escape Planning, “Stay low and Go” under smoke, and much more.

If you have any questions pertaining to our Fire Safety House program please give the Oak Bay Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Division a call (250) 592-9121.
