Daily Schedules
Whether it’s an afternoon skate with your family, or a night out with your friends, Oak Bay Recreation Centre will offer a fun-filled time on the ice!
Skating and Duffer Hockey sessions are included with your Annual Pass.
Session descriptions noted below...
Adult Skate (18 years & over)
Come out and skate Tuesday and Thursday mornings to Big Band music.
Duffer Hockey - Lunchtime
Drop-in co-ed hockey for players 18 years and up. See sign up information at top of page. Full gear is mandatory - visor, neck guard & shoulder pads are highly recommended.
Duffer Hockey - Over 40's
Drop-in co-ed hockey for players 40 years and up. See sign up information at top of page. Full gear is mandatory - visor, neck guard & shoulder pads are highly recommended.
Duffer Hockey - Over 50's
Drop-in co-ed hockey for players 50 years and up. See sign up information at top of page. Full gear is mandatory - visor, neck guard & shoulder pads are highly recommended.
Everyone Welcome
Skating for all ages! See the web for special event theme skates.
Fridays Everyone Welcome & Stick and Puck Skate
Shared ice to drop-in and work on your passing, stick handling or casual skating. For all ages. Players must bring their own stick and wear a helmet and gloves. Sponge pucks only, available for a $2 deposit.
Everyone Welcome $3
What a deal! Only $3 admission and $2 skate rentals on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sunday evenings.
Family Skate
A great time for families to have fun! Enjoy a special beginner’s corner for preschoolers. Strollers allowed on the ice with permission, please. See the web for special event theme skates.
Parent & Child Hockey
Sponge puck hockey with a special area for beginners. Parents must go on the ice. Children to wear helmets and face mask please. Admission price includes an adult and up to two children and children’s rentals. Sponge pucks only.
Parent & Child Skate
Children under 8 years are welcome with their parents/guardians to skate to music and have fun with skating equipment. Please note: During Christmas, Spring Break, Stat holidays and Pro-D Days this skate becomes an Everyone Welcome Skate. Please see the Event Calendar for current season information.
Summer Stick & Puck Skate
Drop-in to practice your skills. Players must bring a stick and wear a helmet and gloves.
Summer Stick & Puck Rules:
- All Participants pay at the front reception till
- All Participants must wear helmet, hockey gloves, skates and have their own hockey stick
- Participants under 18 MUST WEAR A FULL FACE SHIELD
- NO GOALIES
- No Games (stick and puck is for individual skill development)
- We highly recommend that participants under 12 are accompanied on the ice with a paid adult
- Slap shots permitted when there is a clear lane to the net
- No slap shots at side boards
- No shooting at side boards
- No shooting at the net when a fellow participant is retrieving the puck from the net
