Bowker Creek Mural: Community Call for Inspiration
Keep it simple, make it bold, help the wall come alive!
Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture and the Oak Bay Community Artists Society are looking for inspiration for a new mural that will be installed on the large wall that overlooks the Jack Wallace Memorial Track at Oak Bay High School.
The Bowker Creek Mural project will inject colour and vibrancy into the community by beautifying a prominent, but drab wall. Members of the community are invited to suggest imagery, themes or subjects that the mural artist will use as inspiration for the final design. These should reflect our vibrant community and its varied environment.
“We are looking forward to hearing from our community,” says Karen Manders, Acting Arts and Culture Programmer, “this project has been in the works for many years and it’s so exciting that it’s finally happening!”
Funding has been granted through the CRD Arts Development Service to the Oak Bay Community Artists Society and a private donation to Oak Bay Parks, Recreation and Culture.
This is the first mural project of this kind in the Municipality of Oak Bay and is planned for completion by October 2019.
Think simple, think bold, think active living and high school track & field, think Oak Bay!
