Energy Conservation

Oak Bay Energy Conservation

Oak Bay has been involved in energy conservation for a long time now and the savings have really been adding up. In fact, in 2013 the Oak Bay Recreation Centre hit the 50% energy reduction level. In fact, we now use less electricity than the Oak Bay Recreation Centre used 20 years ago to power all of Oak Bay’s municipal electrical needs.

It's not just about saving money, since Oak Bay signed on the Climate Action Charter 2007, green house gasses have been reduced by 26.8%.

Another way Oak Bay has been working to lower energy consumption is through workplace awareness.

Although Oak Bay has done a lot to lower consumption over the years there is still a lot we plan to do, that is why we have a plan for the future.
