
Unwin home at 2178 Beaver Street - now Beaverbrooke Street. Built for widow Maria Unwin and her five children Dora, Hilda, Mabel, Winnifred and Cecil when they settled in Oak Bay in 1912. They kept a Shetland Pony and governess cart which was used for transportation. Miss Mabel Unwin was the propietor of Oak Bay Dry Goods in the Bell Block on Oak Bay Avenue for many years. Cecil served in WWl and married Clara while in England. They bought a home at 2199 Bartlett Street where they had a small farm and goat dairy. Miss Mary Unwin, daughter of Cecil and Clara, lived on Victoria Avenue for many years.
