Construction Notice - Beach Drive between Estevan Avenue and Dalhousie Street

July 16, 2018

This notice is to advise residents of planned construction work on Beach Drive, between Estevan Avenue and Dalhousie Street.

The Capital Regional District (CRD) Integrated Water Services division is about to begin a project to extend the life of the East Coast Interceptor, a critical sewer main that services several communities including Saanich, Oak Bay and Victoria.

Though the CRD’s contractors will be delivering detailed advisories to nearby residents, District of Oak Bay staff have prepared this notice in order to ensure that the information is disseminated as widely as possible.

Construction and traffic control is expected to begin for the first phase of the project on Thursday, July 19th, running until Friday July 27th.  At that time, all of the northbound lane of Beach Drive will be closed between Dalhousie and Estevan.

The second phase of the project is expected to begin on Monday, July 30th until Friday August 17th.  At times during the second phase, portions of Beach Drive between Dalhousie and Estevan may be reduced to single lane traffic.

Work is scheduled to occur each day, Monday through Saturday, from 7am until 7pm.  Residents should expect to see several traffic control personnel during those hours enforcing the single lane restrictions, and guiding drivers to detour routes as necessary.

Any questions or concerns can be directed to the CRD’s main point of contact, Lani O’Dwyer, who can be reached at 250-360-3143, or via email at lodwyer@crd.bc.ca
