Greater Victoria Public Library’s Oak Bay Branch Reopening in late-May

Oak Bay, BC – The Greater Victoria Public Library’s (GVPL) Oak Bay Branch is set to reopen during the last week of May 2023 after a temporary closure due to renovations following asbestos abatement. The District of Oak Bay and GVPL took the opportunity of the closure to proceed with further improvements to the facility, including upgrading insulation and LED lighting to meet sustainability goals.

While we await the reopening, library users are reminded that the pop-up branch in the Monterey Recreation Centre Cedar room will continue to operate throughout the closure.

The temporary pop-up branch is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Library services continue to be delivered at the temporary pop-up location, including:

  • Holds pick up.
  • Small browsing collection featuring new and popular materials for all ages, including adult and non-fiction titles, children’s books, Fast Collection items, large print, DVDs and Blu-ray, newspapers, and more.
  • Drop-in indoor Family Storytime on Wednesdays at 10:30 am.
  • WiFi access.
  • Continued use of return drop box (located outside the Monterey Recreation Centre).

More information about library services is available on GVPL’s website at gvpl.ca or through GVPL’s customer service line at 250-940-4875. GVPL’s customer service staff are available Monday to Saturday between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.
