2018 General Local Election Nomination Period September 4-14, 2018

The Nomination Period for the 2018 General Local Election is now open and runs until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2018.  If you are intrested in running for an office in the Distirct of Oak Bay, you must submit your completed nomination forms to the Chief or Deputy Chief Election Officer prior to the close of the Nomination Period.
List of Candidates (updated as nomination packages are received). 

Candidate Information Packages including required nomination documents are available for anyone interested in running in the upcoming election. Packages can be picked up from the Election Headquarters located at the Oak Bay Municipal Hall, 2167 Oak Bay Avenue, Victoria, BC, V8R 5G2, Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (and must be submitted prior to 4:00 p.m. on September 14, 2018). Electronic documents are available by request to the Chief Election Officer or the Deputy Chief Election Officer.

When requesting these packages, please be prepared to provide a contact name, email address and phone number. This information will be used to advise candidates, or their contacts, of any changes to requirements that need to be distributed to all persons who have received information packages and nomination documents.

To be eligible to run for office you must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Be a Canadian citizen; and
  • Be at least 18 years old on general voting day, Saturday, October 20, 2018; and
  • Have lived in BC for at least 6 months immediately before General Voting Day (this equates to March 13, 2018); and
  • Have not been disqualified by the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election in British Columbia or from being nominated for, being elected to, or holding the office, or otherwise disqualified by law.

General Voting day is Saturday, October 20, 2018 between 8:00 a.m and 8:00 p.m. More information on voting opportunities and locations, and voter eligibility is avaialble at oakbay.ca/elections


Please be reminded that the Nomination Period runs from
Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. until Friday, September 14, 2018 at 4:00 p.m.  
Nomination packages can only be submitted during this legislated timeframe.
