Heron Street Construction - Water Main/Storm Main Rehabilitation

The District of Oak Bay will be replacing the storm sewer main and the water main on Heron Street from Estevan Avenue to Lincoln Road.  The storm sewer and water main are beyond their service life and are being replaced to improve service to residents.   Construction activity will begin early September 2019 and is expected to finish by March 2020. Upon completion of the underground works, the District will repair concrete curb and re-surface Heron Street.

August 14, 2019 - Construction Notice - Heron Street Water Main/Storm Main Rehabilitation issued

Feb 14, 2020 - Final commissioning and testing of the new water main is in progress and should be completed shortly.  The storm sewer protion of the project remains to be completed.

March 25, 2020 - Completion of this project has been delayed due to re-assignment of our crews to other tasks connected to the prioritization of services connected to COVID-19.

June 8, 2020 - District staff expect to complete the final portions of the storm sewer as well as the curb/gutter and road rehabilitation.  The project is expected to be completed in June.

July 16, 2020 - Underground works have been completed.  Remaining work includes paving and curb/gutter restoration, which is expected to be complete no later than mid summer 2020.
