He is also a sound designer\, composer\, arranger\, and the co-creator of the acclaimed Ride the Cyclone. He recently produced the cast album for RTC\, which is now available through Warner Brothers on all major streaming services. He currently performs around the island with the Beautiful Maladies\, The Chuckleberries\, Wild Honey Pie and at his regular home base\, Pagliacci’s.\n\nAdditionally\, meet the young visual artists from the Oak Bay Parks\, Recreation and Culture Summer Art Camps who created Symphony of Oaks\, the new evolving art piano next to the shoreline. Visit the piano each week to watch the artwork progress as the summer continues on.\n\nPlease bring your own lawn chair and umbrella.In the case of pouring rain\, the concert may be rescheduled.

DESCRIPTION:Beginning in June and continuing to September\, between 4:00 and 8:00 pm on the second Wednesday of the month\, Oak Bay Village is transformed into a European style street market. A wide range of fresh and local produce and food is available. Artists and artisans showcase a variety of wares including wood turned bowls\, hand made greeting cards\, glass art\, paper casting\, fabric arts\, jewelry\, toys\, fresh made soaps and cosmetics and preserves. Each market also offers local music\, a magician\, face painting and balloon animals. The stores of Oak Bay merchants are open with special pricing\, tastings\, demos\, sampling and more. \nThe night market is organized by the Oak Bay BIA. \nPlease note\, Oak Bay Avenue will be closed from Municipal Hall (2167 Oak Bay Ave) to Monterey Ave. from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. for the market. \nThis approved community event is listed for community awareness and takes place within the District of Oak Bay\, but is organized by an independent group and not run by the District.

DESCRIPTION:Join Beacon Ridge Productions for their next concert. \n\n\nhttps://www.tonymcmanus.com/ \n\n\nHailed as the best Celtic guitarist in the world\, Tony McManus was listed as one of the 50 transcendental guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine \n\n\n\n\nConjuring a unique but universal language from that most ubiquitous of instruments\, the acoustic guitar\, Tony McManus has both extended and transcended the parameters of contemporary Celtic music. Ranked by peers and predecessors alike alongside the guitar world’s all-time greats\, his fiendishly dexterous\, dazzlingly original playing draws on traditions from the entire Celtic diaspora – Scotland\, Ireland\, Brittany\, Galicia\, Asturias\, Cape Breton\, Quebec – along with still further-ranging flavours\, such as jazz and east European music. Long applauded for his uncanny ability to transpose the delicate\, complex ornamentation characteristic of traditional bagpipe or fiddle tunes – even the phrasing of a Gaelic song – onto his own six strings\, McManus is increasingly being acknowledged also as a pioneering figure in bridging the realms of Celtic music and other guitar genres. \nBorn in 1965 in Paisley\, near Glasgow\, his surname the legacy of an Irish grandfather\, McManus was introduced to traditional music via the family record collection. Having first tried his hand at the fiddle\, whistle and mandolin\, he took up the guitar aged ten\, although subsequent academic inclinations got him halfway through a PhD in maths before the music won out. After rapidly making his name as an unusually fluent and sensitive accompanist\, he took the solo plunge with a triumphant main-stage debut on the final night of Glasgow’s inaugural Celtic Connections festival in 1994\, supporting Capercaillie in front of a 2500-strong crowd. \nOver the years\, Tony has recorded a catalog of dazzling albums\, both solo and with friends\, delivering a breadth of artistry and performance which conjures up images and themes of the traditional music of the Celts along with more global influences from far and wide. \n\n\n\n\nTickets are available through Beacon Ridge Productions.
